How to improve the win rate of pvp mode in lost ark?

If you're PvP (Player vs. Player) oriented, Lost Ark is highly satisfying as it offers different modes to its players. All fights happen in the Colosseum arena, where players can duel against each other by using a series of stuns, knockdowns, and crowd control abilities. These fights are unlocked as soon as you reach Luterra Castle, around level 26.

1. How to access PvP?

The PvP system in Lost Ark is called "Proving Grounds," You can access it via town boards that can be found in any central city or by clicking on the Colosseum icon of your minimap on the top right compass.

To participate in PvP activities, players must set up their Book of Coordination (default hotkey "Alt+Z") and create their build. The game will automatically provide everybody with 1000 points to invest in stats and 340 skill points for skills and Tripods.

Note: In Lost Ark, your PvE equipment is irrelevant for PvP. Everybody starts from the same place and is given the same points. The only important thing is how players set up abilities and know their characters well.

2. PvP Fights

There are currently three PvP modes in Lost Ark: 2 are competitive, while one is custom and allows you to train with friends.

Each competitive mode has its own "season," You can obtain points for both wins and losses. At the end of each season, the total points of a player are converted into a rank which will provide a relative reward. Such rewards are character-bound.

Once a new season starts, points and ranks are wiped. They're then weekly re-assessed at 09:00 AM, and each player is assigned "Courage Tokens," which can be exchanged for items and Lost Ark resources.

Normal

Normal mode is divided into Team Deathmatch (Arena), Deathmatch (Battle Royale), and Team Elimination (Stadio).

Team Deathmatch is 3v3. Kills are specified next to the character's name. The team with the most kills within 300 seconds (5 min) wins. Once a player is killed, there's a cooldown before he can respawn.

In Deathmatch, you're still six, but everybody fights against everybody. The player with the most kills within 5 min wins.

Team Elimination is still 3v3, but you don't fight all simultaneously. Players duel in couples of 1v1, and only the winner of the fight can move on and duel with the second player of the enemy team.

Note: the winner continues the next fight with the same amount of HP he had at the end of the previous round.

Co-op Battle

Co-op Battle is a unique event mode: the team with the most points is the winner. Each week there are three types of fights:

Rusty Slums - the team can use effects that appear on the map to defeat the enemy. They can get more points by capturing the middle Sylmael crystal.

Orchard Cherry Blossom - the team must defend their Sylmael crystals and destroy the enemy ones. Capturing the middle crystal will allow the team to get a strengthening effect.

Castle "Eagle's Nest" - the team must collect Sylmael crystals before the enemy team in the middle of the map.

PvP Abilities

All skills in the game have both a description for PvE and PvP. To view such definitions, it's enough to open the skill menu on "K" (default hotkey) and hover with your mouse on the one you want to check out while holding the key "Alt". Click here for a guide to the best classes for PVP in 2022.

Example:

One of the most essential things on Lost Ark is knowing your class and which kind of skills can provide "crowd control" abilities (so basically, all those skills that can alter our enemies' mobility and allow us to control it).

In particular, in PvP, we have four main CC (Crowd Control) abilities:

Soft Paralysis: It's the weakest type of CC. Skills that apply soft paralysis can hit and temporarily stun the opponent to allow us to perform chained combos with heavier CC like knockdowns or hard CC. They can be interrupted by normal attacks. Abilities with this effect can be applied when the opponent is not performing any skill and, therefore, free from animation.

Hard paralysis: This type of CC allows us to interrupt and block the opponent even while they're performing some skills. Not all abilities can be interrupted: if we assign some specific Tripods to our skills, we can obtain immunity to such ccs, like in the example below.

Push (or "Knockups/Knockdowns") - Abilities with "Push CC" allow us to knock down the opponent and pin it to the ground. While the opponent is in this state, they cannot execute any action besides dodging one time only. Also, during the "Push," the opponent can be blocked for a maximum of 4 seconds and be thrown in the air for a max of 4 times. After this, they'll enter into an immunity state, and they can stand up. Similarly, as for the Hard Paralysis, if we apply the "Tenacity" Tripods, we can be immune from Push CC.

Hard CC: It's the strongest CC in the game. It can be triggered by different effects like stun, earthquake, fear, electroshock, and petrification, and each of these statuses can hit and push the opponent to the floor.

While Hard CCed, the opponent cannot move nor dodge/roll. After standing up, the opponent gains an immunity effect that allows him not to re-enter Hard CC status for the next 7 seconds.

Some skills can be Hard CC immune, such as Awakenings.

When it comes to our PvP build, it's essential to include all these types of CCs in our builds, trying to invest in the immunity Tripods and thinking about the different combos that can allow us to block the opponent for as much time as possible.

Note: for more visibility during fights. It's suggested to force the screen into a 21:9 ratio.
