The day before yesterday, the official launch of the multiplayer game Lost Ark for Europe and the United States took place.

What kind of game is Lost Ark?
Lost Ark is a free-to-play Korean open-world MMOARPG (Massively Multiplayer
Game) by
Smilegate Studios. It is made in an isometric style, like Diablo.
The project's plot is quite simple: you play as a hero who needs to
collect seven artifacts. They help in the epic confrontation between the
mortal worlds and demonic entities from the next world.
In general, nothing special for a typical genre representative, but only at
first glance. Over the years of the game's existence, the authors have
created entire separate storylines. They are quite well developed, and
gamers worldwide note that sometimes additional quests (or a series of
quests) are more exciting than the main ones.
However, nothing new. Most tasks come down to "give-bring" or "kill 10, 50,
1000 boars." But many of them are supported by microstories, which is why
they are perceived completely differently.
The maps' islands also have their own stories, secrets, and mysteries.
Moving between them takes place on a personal ship. The world turned out to
be large, full of events and additional tasks. The world of tiny little
people replaces the classic European medieval fantasy and then the
post-apocalyptic wastelands that turn into a magical world from fairy tales.
As for pumping, it is standard here. You will unlock new combat skills up to
level 50. Each provides ability points to improve existing skills, making attacks
faster, more powerful, or allowing for longer-lasting effects, i.e.,
"buffs".
Visually, the game looks typical for the Asian market. The heroes have huge
weapons, the art style is signature for this region, and the bosses are
huge. The basis of the gameplay, as in other MMOs, is grinding.
Why is she so popular?
The secret of success is quite simple. The game has been around for several
years: the first Korean release took place on December 4, 2019.
Subsequently, the game launched in beta mode in other countries. The
developers constantly improved it and actively fixed numerous bugs and
improved performance. Nowadays, getting a game on an official release in a
fully polished state is a rarity, especially against the backdrop of the
failures of major projects in 2021 (for example, BF2042).
In the West, the game is published by
Amazon Games, a
division of the well-known Amazon, which in 2021 turned out to be heard by
foreign audiences due to the quite successful start (but then failure) of
another MMORPG, New
World. Already that game was popular on
Twitch at the start,
which, by the way, also belongs to Amazon. Now, Lost Ark also ranks first
among all streams.
But the main thing is that Korean developers have added a huge amount of
content to the game over the years of open testing. Gamers will not get bored
even after hundreds of hours of passage. There are guilds, PvP, building a
personal base, and even your fleet. The game is just gigantic.

But you need to understand that if you go to an MMORPG, it will be difficult
without a donation. The average time to complete the campaign and other
quests is at least 200 real hours.
If you desire to try the game, it is already available in the My. Games
service. There is also an option to launch the Steam version via VPN and
non-Russian accounts. However, the European servers are now terribly
overloaded. It is almost impossible to enter, and those who are already
playing are regularly "thrown out" due to the inability of the equipment to
cope with the explosive popularity of the project.
